Osage Orange (or Bodark as we call it in the Ozark Mountains) is a gauge you can spot across the shop. The unique yellowish tint of the wood creates a stand out and unique look. This wood is very dense and holds a very nice polish. It tends to turn a dark brown if left in sunlight.

This is the best marking gauge I've ever used. Finest level of quality and very functional. Here's what stood out for me:
- The beam is dovetailed into the fence and slides with a tight friction fit that keeps it parallel and dead square
- The osage orange is beautiful. Very dense and hard, this thing glows like honey in the sunlight
- The blade depth is adjustable and it cuts a deep groove that lets you sneak up with a chisel or saw with ease. This really makes it stand out from other cutters
- The brass is nice - knob is knurled and the fence has a brass inlay. Will last forever.
- The grooves and overall feel of this thing fit really nicely in your hand. I use my thumb and index on the beam and middle finger in the fence groove
When you first see it it's smaller than you imagined but it's the perfect size for marking out dovetails and tenons. I will definitely be adding a 6" in the future. This is the finest marking gauge you can buy and it's absolutely worth it.

This is a nice little marking gauge. Fits the hand nicely, but is a little awkward in some marking scenarios. I would recommend this gauge to anyone looking for something small and functional with nice craftsmanship.
LOVE IT!
The design gives great control in the hand. It's easy to keep the fence tight against the work, to regulate the depth of the mark, and start and stop the mark where you want. The fingernail-shaped blade cuts nicely across the grain and does not tend to deviate when marking along the grain.
Fit and finish are top-notch. Highly recommend.
