This knife, with its magnetized sheath, is, in my humble opinion, the best marking knife on the market today. It has a great feel, is exceptionally attractive, is robust but narrow enough to mark the pins between even very tight dovetails. It's one of the best tools in my collection. I'd recommend it to anyone on the market for a marking/joinery knife.
Give up my Japanese marking knife? I thought that would never happen. That wall started to crumble after I purchased a Hamilton panel gauge. I was so struck by the fine craftsmanship I took another look at the Hamilton joinery knife. The blade cover was a plus, having cut myself a few times with my existing blade. The magnets in the cover are clever, I thought; why not? I'll give it a try. Upon receipt I noted the craftsmanship is amazing, the magnets hold the sheath firmly in place, and the blade is elegant - more so than my all-steel knife. Nothing compares to the warmth of a wood handle! The Japanese blade has gone to the bench - to be called for large beam work. The Hamilton knife is now my go-to tool for 90% of the work. Buy one! When is the next time you will be able to use a piece of art to make yours materialize !?
