Wonderful to see a beautiful, well-crafted tool made in the US. In addition to the fine craftsmanship, an added benefit of gauge thickness is it allows use when the stock stays flat on the bench whereas other marking/cutting gauges require the stock to hang over the edge of the bench to be marked.
Remarkably functional with quality construction makes the 4" marking gauge my go-do marking gauge now. It was a pleasure working with Jeff on this order. Highly recommended!
The marking gauge is well made and well finished. I have only is it once and performed better than any marking gauge I have ever used. The 4 inch will work on 1 inch and thinner material.
Haven't had the opportunity to really put it through the paces just yet. With that said, it truly is a piece of beautiful craftsmanship. The walnut is finished beautifully. The sliding dovetail is without slop yet slides freely. And it comes sharp and ready to go out of the box. Will probably buy another in the future in the 6" size. Excellent!
